How to opt out

Step-by-step + deadline

Myths people keep repeating

Opt Out

Opting out is a personal decision. This page guides you through the process, it doesn't push you either way. Staying in requires no action at all.

Application deadline
31 Aug 2026
Time left to opt out

Window opened 13 July 2026. Late applications will not be accepted. Opt-outs submitted now take effect from the July contribution. June deductions stand and are not refunded.

Opt-out is not automatic. "Voluntary" does not mean deductions stop by themselves. No declaration by the deadline = you stay enrolled.

👤Who can opt out?

  • You are a local (Malaysian) employee under Act 4, foreign workers cannot opt out
  • You submit the liability release declaration before 31 August 2026
  • You understand you forfeit all 8 benefits and release your employer and PERKESO from liability for non-work accidents
Unlike private insurance, there is no requirement to prove you own alternative PA coverage, but going fully unprotected is the real risk to weigh. Compare your options before you submit.

📋How to opt out: 6 steps

  • 1

Decide first. Compare what you'd be giving up, most regret comes from opting out without understanding what's lost.

  • 2

Register or log in at the official portal: lindungfaedah.perkeso.gov.my

  • 3

Select "SAYA MEMILIH UNTUK TIDAK MENYERTAI" (the liability release declaration). A manual form also exists if you can't use the portal.

  • 4

Submit, then download and keep the declaration form as your official record.

  • 5

Inform your HR or payroll so the deduction stops from the next cycle. This step is commonly missed.

  • 6

Check your July/August payslip to confirm the deduction has stopped. Verify your record at prihatin.perkeso.gov.my or call 1-300-22-8000.

⚠️Common mistakes

  • Assuming "voluntary" means deductions stop automatically, they don't
  • Opting out, then expecting a June refund. June contributions were lawfully mandatory and are not refunded
  • Believing "I can rejoin anytime" means instant protection, coverage only restarts after contributions resume; there's no retroactive cover
  • Forgetting to tell HR/payroll, then getting deducted anyway
  • Not keeping the declaration form as proof

💼Staying in? You don't need to do anything

No action by 31 August = you remain enrolled and covered. Some guides recommend making a "MENYERTAI" declaration on the portal anyway, purely for record purposes.

Opting out and going unprotected?

Before you leave a RM22–45/month safety net with nothing behind it, it's worth a 10-minute look at what a private Personal Accident plan covers, and what it doesn't. Education first, no obligation.

An honest comparison

LINDUNG 24 Jam and private Personal Accident insurance are not the same product. Most planners treat them as layers, not alternatives. Here's what each actually does.

👋A note from Neelia

Hi, I'm Neelia, Director of Amana Insurance.
I created this platform after seeing many friends, family members, clients and people online unsure about Lindung 24 Jam and what action they should take. My team and I hope this platform gives you clear and practical information. Should you wish to explore other options, we are always happy to assist with no pressure or obligation.

🎯Why this exists

Between 13 July and 31 August 2026, millions of Malaysians may need to make an insurance decision they were not prepared for. The public conversation is filled with confusion about opting out, double claiming, exclusions and what voluntary participation means. This platform exists to answer these questions accurately and in plain language before anyone tries to sell you anything.

We would like to be as transparent as possible, feel free to let us know on any of the FAQs or suggestions to improve the content.

📣What changed in July 2026

LINDUNG 24 Jam launched on 1 June 2026 as a mandatory scheme, with 0.75% deducted from every Act 4 employee's June salary. After nationwide backlash over the lack of consent, the Cabinet made it voluntary for Malaysians on 8 July 2026, foreign workers remain mandatory. The opt-out window runs 13 July to 31 August 2026. Voluntary doesn't mean automatic: do nothing and you stay enrolled, deductions continue. June contributions are not refunded. The full details are in the FAQ, search "voluntary", "opt out" or "refund".

🔬How answers are verified

Every FAQ is checked against official sources. PERKESO's scheme page, the official FAQ PDF (25/06/2026), the Employees' Social Security (Amendment) Act 2026 [Act A1788], and ministerial statements. Facts are labelled ✓ Verified only when confirmed against these. Public sentiment and third-party figures are attributed, never presented as fact. Answers are reviewed and updated within 24 to 48 hours of official changes. Where the official FAQ predates the 8 July U-turn, we say so.
